Abstract

An 80Gbit/s ATM-switch multi-chip module (MCM) has been developed that uses only an optical I/O interface for high-speed sienal interconnection. The MCM was fabricated using 0.25um CMOS/SIMOX technology, 622Mbit/s/channel 40 channel/ module parallel-optical-interconnection technology, and highperformance cooling technology. Its small size (220 × 174 × 15mm) will enable 80Gbit/s optical ATM cell switching.
