N2 - This paper proposes an autonomous energy saving method that works on wireless sensor networks. Wireless sensor nodes are equipment for gathering information about the user's surrounding environment. An energy-efficient data gathering system is required because each node is battery powered. Our method autonomously reduces the sampling frequency for monitoring environments whose condition may vary rapidly or slowly. Its simple lightweight computation scheme also helps to reduce battery consumption. We conducted experiments using real sensor data and found that our method performed well in terms of both power consumption and quality of sampled data.
