Abstract

Previous studies pointed out that it is difficult to achieve two objectives simultaneously. In this study, we address this problem from a design perspective. We can categorize a system as either a 'designed' system or an 'undesigned' system. We address the pattern of integrating a Designed Monolithic System (DMS) with an Undesigned Monolithic System (UMS) to design a monolithic system that achieves two objectives simultaneously: a combination of 'Designed and Undesigned'. The objective realizing by DMS is 'original objective', which is the planned objective, and the objective realizing by UMS is 'unplanned objective'. The purpose of this study is to propose a framework to derive objective that should be described as the top goal within Goal Structuring Notation (GSN), which will be design methods and assurance methods, in order to simultaneously achieve the original objective and objective that were not planned at the time of design.
