Abstract
The complementary relations between vortex flowmeters and fluidic flowmeters are studied through the concept of complementarity of jet versus wake. A unified model describing fluid motion in the hydrodynamic oscillator flowmeter is proposed on the basis of fluid circulation. The results of the dimensional analysis and experiments support the idea of structural complementarity and kinematic similarity of the hydrodynamic oscillators. The feasibility of a new detection technique for fluid oscillation in fluidic flowmeters is proven. It is stated that it verifies the usefulness of the unified circulation model. (A)
