Abstract
Integral counting techniques using a liquid scintillation spectrometer have been extended to the determination of the absolute disintegration rate of a coloured sample of β-emitters. The integral counting rate of the coloured sample is compared with the absolute disintegration rate of the sample obtained by a conventional 2π β-counter. It was found that the counting efficiency in the coloured sample for β-emitters with maximum energy higher than 200 keV is close to 100% with precision better than 0.7%.
