Abstract
We present the analysis and experimental results for a novel AC/AC converter with Class DE tuned power oscillator which is one application of Class DE inverter. Proposed circuit has several desirable features. First, it operates at high frequency and high efficiency region by means of Class E switching conditions. Second, it has no external gate-drive circuit to drive the MOSFETs. Therefore it is more lighter and smaller than conventional Class DE inverter. Third, contrast to conventional Class DE oscillator, proposed circuit has ac input so that it has no reference inverter for starting up the oscillator. The converter is applicable for UPS, Battery charger, and Electronic ballets for lighting. Experimental results matched well with the theoretical predictions. Measured efficiency was over 70% with 1 MHz 4.6 W output.
