Abstract

This paper describes and evaluates an action research project in a Japanese provincial town. It consists of two phases: first, we realized a public exhibition of designproposals to contribute to urbanregeneration. Second, we rece ived a commission to implement some of the ide as piro posed in the exhibitio n, specifically the conversi on of a warehouse into a community center. This paper shows the whole process, from the fact-finding phase to the project implementation as a way of introduce action research in the field of architectural design.
