Abstract

The effects of intravenous transfusion of liposome-embedded heme (L/H) on acute hemodynamic and glycolytic metabolic changes were evaluated in hemorrhagic dogs. Under controlled ventilation, 30 ml/ kg of blood was drawn. Blood pressure, histamine release, PAP, PCWP, CVP and CO were measured. After 30 minutes, 30 ml/kg of L/H solution (group A) or normal saline solution (group B) was intravenously injected, and no transfusion was peformed in group C. The above parameters and serum lactate and pyruvate concentration were measured. The data obtained show that hemorrhagic hypotension and anaerobic glycolysis were reversed by L/H injection.
