For manufacturing companies today, overseas productions are getting more and more important to compete in a global marketplace. This paper proposes an analysis method for an overseas production preparation process. First, the overseas production preparation is analyzed theoretically from the process point of view, with an emphasis on intermediate performance measures. Based on this analysis, an approach is used that does not assume the existence of current tasks. Physical cause-effect relations between design and measurement variables are utilized and dependency relations between tasks are generated based on the cause-effect relations. The process with different trial phases is optimized by considering the different degree of the trial accuracy coming from different environmental conditions. The technique is evaluated using real data of designing a die for a forging process. An improvement of around 40% has been found using parallel trials based on the process analysis result in comparison with sequential trials.
