Analysis of coupling between two-dimensional photonic crystal waveguide and external waveguide

Abstract

Coupling between two-dimensional photonic crystal waveguide and wire waveguide was analyzed using a three-dimensional finite difference time domain method. The transmittance was evaluated corresponding to the coupling efficiency between the two waveguides. Single mode guiding and a coupling efficiency of over 80% was obtained for the wavelength around 1.55 μm.
