Automatic generation of hypertexts from relational data base and its application to drug information

We have developed an automatic conversion system 'RDB2HTML' to make hypertext files in the HTML format from relational data base. By combining the relational tables, this system automatically generates hypertext files to present information and index files with hyperlinks to refer these HTML files. It can also create a hierarchical index for a search based on a classification tree. By the use of this system, we made the web sites that have the following contents on Internet: (1) Notes on the usage of drugs which must be explained to the patients; (2) Large-volume parenteral data base which covers the content information on all the commercially available bottles in Japan.
