Abstract

The usefulness of FDG-PET for lung cancer diagnosis has been reported in many articles. Our own data also showed merits of PET for staging, differential diagnosis, and detecting recurrence. Efficacy for cancer screening using PET is getting much attention especially in Japan, which may be one of the reasons for driving spread of PET. Though PET studies have a lot of advantages, CT may be preferable to be done at once for anatomical information is indispensable. FDG-PET is a promising tool as a complementary method of anatomical imaging, such as CT or MRI. It may obtain more important position in imaging modalities in the near future.
