Abstract

A new coherent control theory for manipulating quantum mechanical dynamics is proposed. The control field is designed locally (in time domain) so as to realize monotonous increase of the overlap between currently evolving wavefunction and the time-dependent target state, which will eventually reach to a desired quantum state under field-free condition. The present theory is applied to one-dimensional harmonic oscillator and Morse potential systems.
