Abstract

In this paper, we propose a coherent detector selection diversity system for fading channels. That is, in order to cope with fading channels, this system operates to switch between two phase-locked-loops (PLLs), one with the narrow loop bandwidth BL and the other with the wide BL by means of error-detection code. Moreover, the proposed system does not require the differential encoding. Namely, it detects the signal with its absolute phase by means of the error-detection. The effectiveness of this system compared with the differential PSK is verified by computer simulation in fading channels; indoor environment with maximum Doppler frequency of 5-15Hz.
