Abstract

We demonstrated accurate pulse shaping of amplified femtosecond optical pulses by modulating the amplitude and phase prior to regenerative chirped-pulse amplification. We measured the amplitude and phase of amplified pulses using a spectral interferometer with a well-defined reference pulse. Based on these measurements, the pulse shaper was adjusted only a few times to compensate for a transfer function of the amplifier consisting of the gain narrowing and self-phase modulation.
