Congenital arteriovenous malformation of the auricle

A 21 year old male presented with a dark reddish colored mass associated with a skin ulcer of the right auricle and pulsatile tinnitus. A MR Angiography revealed an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) from the right superficial temporal artery. In the first operation, the AVM was excised with the overlying skin and the perichondrium. The exposed auricular cartilage was then inserted into the temporal subcutaneous pocket. In the second operation, elevation of the auricular was done. There was no evidence of recurrence at 17-month follow up. The described technique can he useful with acceptable cosmesis in treating AVM of the auricle.
