Abstract

Imaging diagnosis plays a critical role in the initial evaluation of dementia disorders despite its limited specificity. The two major causes of dementia are neurodegenerative disorders including Alzheimer disease and diffuse vascular disorders, some of which show characteristic findings on CT and MRI. Although effective treatment is not yet available for most of these entities, there is possibility that early diagnosis by imaging could lead to preventive measures in future. Some illustrative cases of dementia diseases are demonstrated.
