Abstract

Recently, cell transplantation therapy using cellular tissue has been used as an effective therapy for patient. In order to improve the efficacy of the cellular tissue transplantation, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) releasing fiber mat was developed. Using the fiber mat, six layered cardiomyocyte sheets can be transplanted at once, because the local release of VEGF induced the vascularization into the transplanted stacked cardiomyocyte sheets. In this article, the design strategy of the VEGF releasing fiber mat was introduced with the background of cellular tissue transplantation.
