Abstract
In this paper, we propose new patterns for designing creative education. Recently in the field of education, there has been a focus on creative education for cultivating learners’ creativity, where educators must encourage students’ successive emergence of discoveries. Therefore, as a designer of education, teachers must be able to understand the patterns in good education programs and its design concepts. In this context, we propose, “Design Patterns for Creative Education Programs”, which support educators to better understand and design courses, using the pattern language method. This paper classifies existing education patterns in the former generations of pattern languages, and then proposes new patterns in the pattern language 2.0, that deal with non-material objects. Then, we show the process of creating the patterns, and present the summary of the patterns. Furthermore, we focused on one course as an example to explain how to understand design intentions of courses with patterns; and propose the idea that using patterns in online open education tools will improve the teachers’ ability to design their own original courses.
