Abstract

The intelligent machine tool is required to implement high-precision process monitoring for judging the abnormal tool conditions. For maintaining machine tool in good condition and detecting the occurrence of tool wear, the various techniques have been widely researched and studied. By monitoring cutting torque which is the basic information in machining, it is possible to detect the occurrence of tool wear. The purpose of this study is to propose sensor-less cutting force and torque monitoring method and to develop an intelligent stage with this method.
