Abstract

There is a strong demand for an automatic detection system of damage on surface of a container. The system have to detect holes or cracks distinguishing from painting, dirt, dent, rust and so on. So it is very difficult to distinguish it from them using an image obtained by a 2-D CCD camera. To overcome this problem, we propose a method for detecting holes and cracks easily by controlling lights. This method actively detect condition of the surface and this is based on the Photometric Stereo Method.
