Abstract

Successfully developed a thinner, softer, longer cable system using a graded-index plastic optical fiber (GI-POF) to replace a coaxial cable connected between a TV set and GV-ONU (optical network unit for television broadcasts in an FTTH service) is described. This system consists of E/O converter, GI-POF and O/E converter, and has high frequency response up to 2.1GHz, that covers terrestrial digital broadcast, satellite broadcast, and communication satellite broadcast in Japan.
