Abstract
A new type of the elliptic ball-end-mill is proposed to simplify the regrinding operation of the cutting edge. This ball-end-mill has an elliptic surface as a rake face and a suitable inclination plane as a clearance face or a rake face. This article reports the method of forming this ball-end-mill and some experiments to test its performance in terms of cutting force and chip formation.
