Differential Space-Time Line Codes

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

This study proposes a differential space-time line code (STLC) scheme to combat time-varying wireless channels in vehicular communications. A conventional STLC transmitter requires full channel state information (CSI), which is impractical in fast time-varying channel environments. The proposed differential STLC transmitter requires no CSI of the varying channels and can provide comparable communication performance to an ideal STLC system using full CSI as verified in numerical results. The proposed differential STLC system almost sustains its bit-error-rate performance of the ideal case with the full knowledge of the time-varying channels. The proposed differential STLC scheme can be a potential candidate for communications in high-speed vehicles.
