Abstract

Polythioester shows some unique characteristics such as high melting point and poor solubility against various organic solvents. This report covers the synthesis of polythioester from α, ω) -alkanedithiol and diethyl α, ω) -alkanedioate using the lipase-catalyzed reaction. The T m and Tc for all of the obtained polythioester were higher than those of the corresponding polyoxoester analogues. The obtained polythioester showed an odd-even effect.
