Abstract

We estimate the theoretical maximum limit of channel alignment density in multimode waveguides from the inter-channel crosstalk point of view. We show graded-index core waveguides have advantage in decreasing the inter-channel crosstalk due to mode coupling compared to step-index core waveguides.
