Abstract

This paper describes an evaluation of a videoconferencing system that is based on the presentation of TV programs. To improve video in current videoconferencing systems, the presentation of pictures on TV programs was studied and a multi-party videoconferencing system that utilizes the result of the analysis was made. The system includes automated control of changes in video camera focus. A comparative experiment between this system and a current fixed camera system was conducted. The results revealed that the system provided more realistic and less boring videoconferencing.
