    Abstract

In this paper, several combinations of antennas for a UWB positioning system is examined. As the UWB pulse duration is very short, the time resolution is very high. Therefore, UWB is suitable for positioning systems. However, depending on the characteristics of the antennas, the pulse waveform is distorted and received signal power is reduced. Therefore, the characteristics of the transmission and reception antennas influence to the accuracy of the positioning system. In this paper, the received signal waveform with different combinations of transmission and reception antennas is measured, and the performance of the pulse synchronization is investigated.
