Abstract

The number of Japanese woman who died from breast cancer or suffer from breast cancer tends to increase rapidly in recent years. Therefore, early detection and early the cure are the most important matters in the diagnosis and the cure of breast cancer. Essentially, cell measurement must be performed within the only cancer region (epithelial region) in the pathological image. However, it is the problem that the cell nuclei of non-cancer region are counted in the cell measurement, because of the mixture of cancer region and non-cancer region. In this study, we try to extract cell nuclei by using graph cut method and to divide the whole region into two regions (the cancer region and the non-cancer region). Then we show the results of nuclei extraction and region segmentation.
