Abstract
The Assured Forwarding service of the IETF Diff-serv architecture provides a qualitative service differentiation between classes of traffic. However, flows get different shares of the bandwidth, when TCP flows with different Round Trip Times are aggregated into one AF class. In this paper, we propose Fair Rate-conscious TCP (FR-TCP) to improve fairness of bandwidth within the aggregate. Computer simulations show that FR-TCP controls window to get the share according to Fair Rate, allocates fair bandwidth efficiently within the aggregate and adapts to various situations.
