Abstract

This paper proposes a communication system named i-Director for developing a communicative relationship between a person and a communication-robot. The relationship between two persons is essential for their conversation to go smoothly. However, it is known that the relationship between the person and the robot is seldom developed in the ordinary way of human-robot interaction. i-Director develops the relationship by making the person appreciate the feeling of the robot with directed interaction. Also, this paper has conducted an experiment to confirm the effect of i-Director. The experimental results have indicated that the person was absorbed in the interaction with the robot according to the common quality of a sense generated by the directed interaction.
