Abstract

A broadband ISDN architecture is proposed, and its requirements are discussed. The structure and traffic characteristics of a broadband switching system using multirate switching technology are described. A high-speed time-division switch for broadband circuit switching is presented. It uses a high-speed time switch, a serial-to-parallel converter, and peripheral ICs, all of which operate at over 512 Mb/s. Experimental results are presented.
