Abstract

A highly-efficient backlight for liquid crystal display (LCD) having no optical films was proposed. The developed backlight was provided with microprisms at the bottom surface. A uniformity of brightness can be achieved without using any optical films, resulting in high optical efficiency of 62% was confirmed.
