Abstract
This paper conducts a psychological experiment to define the degree of immersion in order to develop a system which can recognize the person's immersion in human-robot interaction. The study proposes the model of the communication manner which explains the shift of the quality of a communication with two types of utterances: an affective utterance which includes a feeling expression relating to a physical object and an informative utterance which gives information about the object. Experimental outcomes indicate that experimental subjects immersed themselves in the interaction with the robot if they were given the affective utterances.
