Abstract

This paper describes the underlying technology, system configuration, and trial manufacturing results for an improved D 50 circuit switching system. The developed system features: 1) low cost fulfillment of medium scale damand; 2) new switching and signal processing architecture facilitating advanced data communication; and 3) telex terminal accommodation capability within the same network. A 35%-40% cost reduction in equipment can be expected through use of a simple one-stage time division switch with frame synchronization, and through realization of a line concentrator unit using newly developed LSIs.
