Abstract

A multi-purpose line concentrator (XLC) has been developed that displays two excellent characteristics: good economy and wide ranging applicability. The XLC facilitates economical extension of the digital data network (DDX) service area, enhancement of DDX facilities, and integration of DDX and telex networks. Achievement of these characteristics has been supported by the system's advanced architecture which features dispersed facilities and a universal bus interface between line circuits and control units.
