Abstract
Experimental results for ultrasonic propagation velocity properties in water-based magnetic fluids are reported. Water-based magnetic fluid samples having 10 wt%, 30 wt% and 40 wt% concentration of magnetic particles were examined. The ultrasonic propagation velocity generally decreases with higher concentrations of magnetic particles, generally increases with increasing external magnetic field intensity and exhibits anisotropy.
