Abstract

In this paper, a new initial sequence acquisition technique for multicarrier time division duplex (TDD) CDMA systems are proposed and evaluated on a Rayleigh fading channel. The proposed technique transmits preambles utilized for initial sequence acquisition on multiple carriers at the same time in order to achieve frequency diversity. Soft decision detection on multiple carriers is employed. The numerical results show that the proposed technique improves required Eb/No by more than 10 dB at the probability of correct acquisition of 0.99. The proposed technique is suitable for TDD CDMA systems since smaller number of preamble sequences for acquisition is desirable in TDD packet transmission.
