Abstract
A perfluorinated polymer based graded-index polymer optical fiber (PF GI POF) exhibits outstanding properties such as low attenuation and low material dispersion because of no carbon-hydrogen bondings in its structure. In this study, high bandwidth potential of the PF GI POF was experimentally confirmed by optimizing its index profile which affected its bandwidth performance strongly. Moreover, 10 Gbps and 12 Gb/s data transmissions for a 100-m PF GI POF at 850-nm wavelength were successfully achieved for the first time.
