Abstract

The micro-magnetic structure of the 180° wall in submicron size ferromagnetic Co wires was examined by using magnetic force microscope (MFM). The observed MFM image was compared to the stray field distribution estimated from the numerically calculated magnetic domain structure. Results suggest that the periodical distribution of the large stray field region is associated with the magnetic ripple structure, and that the wire width dependence of the wall width evaluated from calculation is almost consistent with that measured from the magnetic force micrograph.
