Abstract

We propose the multicast knockout ATM switch with batcher network in order to satisfy the different requirements of the cell loss probability for multiple priority classes. The proposed model sorts the cells according to the identification number of a priority class by a batcher network in order to handle multicast cells of multiple classes. We evaluate the cell loss probability by numerical calculations and computer simulations and show the mean waiting time by computer simulations. As a result, we find that our proposed model can handle the different requirements of the cell loss probability for multiple priority classes without increasing the mean waiting time of each priority class.
