Abstract

The near-field scanning optical microscope is a powerful tool for single quantum dot (QD) spectroscopy. Sharp photoluminescence lines and clear images of single QDs, are achieved at cryogenic temperature. Using a highly-sensitive, near-field probe, a λ/5 spatial resolution and a weak excitation limit of <5×108 excitons per dot are achieved.
