Abstract

The mechanism of above-threshold dissociation of H+2 under femtosecond, intense laser-field conditions is studied by using a quantum-mechanical, time-dependent nuclear wave-packet theory. It is clarified in both coordinate and momentum spaces how the fragments are produced as a result of multiphoton absorption and stimulated emission during the dissociation process. Pulse-duration effects on the momentum distribution of the fragments are investigated as well.
