Abstract

Quantitative evaluation of screening currents in Type-II superconductors is highly demanded for design of superconductive devices and machines. However, few research results have ever been reported on numerical approaches to the evaluation so far. Here has been developed a numerical method of solving macroscopic field equations constructed on the basis of the critical state model and simulated are hysteretic forces between a permanent magnet and a high-Tc superconductor. Numerical and experimental results show really good agreements between them. The numerical code developed in the present research can be useful as a computational tool predicting electromagnetic fields in Type-II superconductors.
