Abstract
A method to identify the dynamic properties of a building with an active control device is proposed for the case when the control device is in operation. As an example of the control device, an active mass damper (AMD) is selected. Usually, to identify the structural properties, the control device should be temporarily stopped. In such a case, the true dynamic properties of the building when subject to a control force are not obtained. Our approach utilizes the Multivariable Output-Error State Space (MOESP) algorithm. The method proposed here is able to identify the properties without stopping the control device.
