Abstract
FDG-PET has a feature to show relatively weak accumulation to well-differentiated hepatoma though strong accumulation to poorly-differentiated type. Consequently. FDG-PET is not suitable for detection of a hepatoma so that accumulation varies by degree of differentiation. On the other hand, FDG-avid poorly- differentiated hepatoma has tendency to occur metastases and recurrence, FDG-PET has a merit to find these lesions by its systemic survey. Contrast enhanced PET/CT that perform PET and contrast CT simultaneously is useful procedure, because it gives us blood flow and metabolism information at once. Acetate and choline are promising PET radiopharmaceuticals to reflect phospholipids metabolism. Both radiopharmaceuticals deposit strongly in well-differentiated hepatoma though faint in poorly-differentiated type, that shows just reverse character.
