Abstract
It is known that local skin friction can be reduced by injecting microbubbles into the turbulence boundary layer, and efficiency of the reduction could be reach up to 80%. Therefore application of the skin friction reduction by the microbubbles is expected, however, mechanism of the reduction has never been revealed yet. In the present study, the objective is to obtain data of turbulent channel flow field containing the microbubbles so that the mechanism for the reduction is revealed clearly. In order to measure the flow with the microbubbles, a PIV and LIF combined method was developed. Measurements were carried out for single phase flow and microbubble flow and it was discussed a capability of the present system and the turbulent properties such as the mean velocity profiles, the turbulent intensity.
