Polygonal silica toroidal microcavity for easy and stable coupling with waveguides

Abstract

We fabricated polygonal silica toroidal microcavities that prevent overcoupling with high-Q modes even when in contact with an evanescent coupler. This increases mechanical stability and offers the possibility of taking the device outside the laboratory.
