Repetition-rate-variable ytterbium-doped fiber MOPA for waveguide direct writing in transparent materials

Abstract

We present an ytterbium-doped fiber master oscillator power amplifier which has a repetition rate tunability from 1 kHz to 10 MHz. The repetition rate is successfully controlled by a semiconductor optical amplifier driven in pulsed mode. The system consists of two stages of preamplifiers and a double-clad fiber amplifier. The output power reaches >4.7 W for various repetition rates.
