Abstract

This volume has covered diverse and challenging topics pertaining to disaster risk redcution such as multi-hazard, vulnerabilities, climate change, resilience, and other cross-cutting issues.Multi-hazard events or hazards of higher magnitude coupled with pre-existing vulnerabilities and exposure have led to large scale cascading disasters. As climate change continues to cause more frequent and intense hazards, the chances of cascading disasters will increase in the future. There have been instances when disasters become more complex and further lead to cascading impacts.Moving forward, it becomes essential to briefly highlight cascading disasters and how sceicne and technology aid in better understanding of cascading disasters. This chapter also brings forth regional perspective of science and technology discourse in the field of disaster risk reduction and concludes with the summary of findings from this volume.
